Nýlendu Icelandic Sheepdogs
Meet The Dogs
The Icelandic Sheepdog is Iceland's only native dog. It is part of Iceland's national heritage and a treasure which should be safeguarded and bred to the FCI/AKC standard keeping it true to Iceland no matter what country it resides in.
The Icelandic Sheepdogs are not for everyone, they need room for play and are not happy to be left alone for long periods of time. They are happiest when they can be with their family while still having the opportunity be out running, playing and working.

The Icelandic Sheepdog...
Iceland's only native dog , a treasured part of Iceland's national heritage.
"If you don't choose the breeding material very carefully, you are not breeding, you are only producing dogs."
-Sigríður Pétursdóttir-
"It has always been my opinion that it is destructive for an Icelandic Sheepdog to live its life as a kennel dog.
A living piece of art ought to live together freely with its human flock."
-Guðrún R. Guðjohnsen-
"One should not consider what people like when considering breeding.
One should only consider what is in the standard."
-Hans Ake Sperne-
To the people of Iceland I would say that you have in your ancient little breed of dog a real treasure
- part of your history. You should prize and value the Iceland Dog, for he is unique and to be cherished.
-Jean Lanning-
